Joey Barton on Talksport

Top drawer. It's like listening to myself.
A big future in punditry beckons.

I am not defending the bloke blindly but you clearly did not hear his commentary yesterday and are picking up the more lively comments
He did exactly that yesterday, his precursor to the personal stuff was a consistant description of where his side were going wrong, how to avoid it and with whom. That after the pre match bit where he said what would happen if Everton failed to address Leicester's strengths.
In fairness, he also said that it was all very obvious and that you did not need to have played the game, have a deep tactical understanding or anything bar no the game - which Unsworth does not

I like him as a pundit. Don't agree with some of what he says but he also talks sense too on some matters.
They say intelligence is like the ocean and while he is "ankle deep" compared to the rest of the ex-pros and presenters he is a step above :-)
He gets people talking and calling in so will be retained until he inevitably upsets someone in power by telling the truth or says something so "un PC" they have to can him. Enjoy it while it lasts :-)

He talks as if he is one of the greatest players to have played in the prem last 10 years or so
When in effect, he was usually shit in a shit team under a shit manager
He usually goes for a big bold personal attack on someone, rather then a interesting tactical insight

He’s the footie bad boy who assaulted a team mate with a cigar, spent six months behind bars, and is sent off once every 45 games.
Now misunderstood Joey Barton is clashing with his fresher classmates at Roehampton university.
The QPR midfielder is doing a part-time philosophy degree at the uni and told The Sun he regularly gets into verbal altercations with his fellow students. Joey said: “My first seminar paper that I had to read out in class was ‘Is death bad for the person who dies?’, and I was obviously against.

Danny Baker put a clip up on twatter the other week of a discussion between Malcom Allison and Alan Mullery, Brian Moore was basically referee, with Allison saying how he didn’t rate Mullery. It got quite heated, and was refreshing to see such honesty back then. Well worth a view.
Barton could be a cunt on the pitch, for sure, but his straight talking is to be admired. There’s not many prepared to say it as they see it, although Dean Ashton always seems to speak his mind when I’ve heard him on the radio.

Why do so many football fans think that a player who has read a book once and can string a sentence together is some kind of intellectual?
In the valley of the blind, the man who can almost spell 'eye' is king, apparently.

We, as WHU fans, should be pleased at Unsworth's temporary role and let's hope he remains in it for some time.
He looks like a Brow/May type who lusts after the big job but makes a horlicks of it upon assuming the role.

Was driving yesterday and listened to the full commentary - when he started off his Unsworth thing I thought bloody Hell - don't get this normally
He went on to say that he was their to give an honest critique and that was what he was doing, too many ex pro's in the old boys club speaking and saying nothing on air and everything off it - said he was not like that and would say what he saw
Shrewd enough to cut himself apart from the herd, love or loathe him, and as it happens, he was not wrong either
the 'saw him waddling onto the coach' made me laugh loudly

Can't stand this attitude of being true to yourself or keeping it real, by having to say exactly how you feel at the expense of somebody else. No tact and certainly no class.

An independent survey carried out by Densa ( work it out for yourselves ) found that the higher an individual's IQ the less likely they were to be a Talksport listener.
When asked about this survey result a Talksport representative commented that it confirmed that the radio station was not just aimed at but reaching its target audience.

He thinks he’s clever because he’s not clever enough to realise he isn’t. If you think he’s clever, it might be worth asking yourself why you think he is.
